DetailsSpider veins are enlarged veins that are located directly under the surface of the skin and shimmer reddish to bluish through the skin. Because the fine branches are reminiscent of a brush, they are called spider veins. Spider veins mostly affect women. The reddish veins mainly appear on the thighs, lower legs or ankles. A weak connective tissue is often responsible for the formation of spider veins. Other causes can include hereditary predisposition, long sitting or standing, and hormonal changes during pregnancy. Other risk factors that can promote the development of spider veins are overweight, sunbathing, sauna, smoking, alcohol and the frequent wearing of high heels. If you tend to spider veins, there is a lot you can do about it on a cosmetic level. Shower baths with firming ingredients such as wheat proteins, allantoin and sage extract smooth the skin. Shower gels with green tea, date and ginkgo extract nourish and harmonize the skin in a pleasant way. A light body lotion with ginkgo biloba and da zao extract, bee honey, jojoba oil and shea butter is wonderfully refreshing. A body lotion with ingredients like menthol, cornflower extract, caffeine and vitamin E, which has a decongesting, detoxifying and strengthening effect on the veins, is a boon for spider veins. It has a wonderfully cooling effect, refreshes the tired legs and fades the enlarged veins. Essential oils also help to soothe spider veins. Mixing a few drops of an oil synergy of lavender, niaouli, mastic and geranium with the body lotion has a calming and decongesting effect on the skin and strengthens the vessels. Similar synergies exist with water-soluble essential oils that can be used in the shower and in the bathtub. These so-called wateromas block and purify the vessels and have a strengthening effect at the same time.
